I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean…. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. – Rev 19:11-16
Lord remind me today that YOU are my rescuing knight who comes on a white horse. Let me stop looking for others to rescue me when I am in distress. Help me to remember that I am secure in you and that no one can steal me from your hand.
There is a place in my heart that longs for a knight on a white horse to come and rescue me. Someone who will risk all because of his great love for me. Someone who will fight the evil villains in my life. Someone who will make it so I am never vulnerable again. Never fear again. I want a hero. So many of our popular stories tell of this same tale. Why? Because it speaks to a deep need we all have. It is a longing we have for our savior. Our real knight on a white horse.
I love love love that God has given us this picture in Revelation of his coming on a white horse. Isn’t God good? I believe he wrote that need into our identity, so that we would long for our rescuer because HE HIMSELF is that knight! He will ride the white horse and rid the world of all evil. He is our savior, our redeemer. I don’t know about you, but I need to know that. As one who has suffered with feeling ultra vulnerable I need to know that he is there to defend me and that NO one can stop him!
Q: Who have you looked to rescue you? How have they failed you? Be assured, God never will!
