Preparing For Christmas Day 3 – Highly Favored

Highly Favored

Read:

Luke 1:26-33

How amazing it must have been to have an angel show up in your room and call you “highly favored”. To be favored means to be treated or thought of with great kindness or partiality; endowed with special gifts, talents or advantages. Mary wasn’t highly favored necessarily because of what she had done but because of who was with her; God. He thought of her with great kindness and had endowed her with special gifts. The angel went on to tell her not to be afraid. We too are highly favored because God is with us. When you choose to live your life for Jesus, God’s Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you. Just like Mary you are highly favored and you don’t need to be afraid.

Chat:

1. How would you feel if an angel came to tell you a message from God?

2. Have you ever been afraid? How can these verses help you when you are afraid?

3. Do you think that you are highly favored by God like Mary? Why?

4. Think about God’s Spirit living inside everyone who follows Jesus. Share your thoughts.

For Parents:

Share with your children a time when you haven’t felt favored, but God has come to you through his word, prayer or someone else to show and tell you that you are favored by Him. Share with them how having the Holy Spirit live inside you has helped you not be afraid. If your child has not accepted Jesus as Lord of their life, now is a good time to talk about what that means with them.

Pray:

Dear God, thank you for favoring me, for loving me and showing me kindness. Please help me to believe that I am highly favored and to not be afraid because you live inside me. Amen.

Activity:

Go outside and make a snow angel.
