Missions Friday – Buy a Watch, Help Fund a Rescue.

This week for Missions Friday we are highlighting two organizations that are near and dear to my heart as they work daily on the front lines of rescuing people from slavery.

Exodus Road Rescuing Girls from Sex Slavery.

The victims that these organizations rescue are the ones who are being sold for sex. You read that right. S-E-X. The statistics tell us that 2 million of these victims worldwide are children.

Who are these heroes who raid the darkest places? The visionaries, investigators and voice’s for the voiceless at The Exodus Road.

The Exodus Road exists to empower the rescue of victims of sexual slavery. Operating primarily in Southeast Asia and India, we believe that a major component of fighting human trafficking and child slavery lies in working with local law enforcement to find situations of trafficking and to then assist in the rescue of victims and the prosecution of criminals. By decreasing the profitability of the trafficking industry for the criminal, we will eventually slow the mechanisms that make the exploitation of women and children so lucrative.

The question that is always sure to follow information about rescue is, what now? Where do these women and children go and what do they do now that they have been rescued? That brings us to Missions Friday highlight #2.

Located in Phnom Penh and the Saang district of Cambodia, Sak Saum is a ministry dedicated to the rescue, restoration, transformation and rehabilitation of vulnerable and exploited women and men.

Sak Saum is pioneering a model of self-sustaining ministry. From the beginning, our goal has been to create a nurturing, empowering, restorative program which facilitates vocational training in sewing, excellent products, and community development. We believe in the union of powerful, life-changing outreach with effective, excellent business.

Our work is supported through the sale of our products around the world. Sak Saum’s business reaches over 30 states in America as well as Australia, Japan, Germany, England and more.

We facilitate 12 girls in the full-time program each year. We also employ 50+ men and women through our Vocational Training Center (VTC). The VTC creates economic development, skill development, educational development and other opportunities to families in the Saang district.
